JustMatters: Faith and Racial Equity Small Groups

These times are deeply troubling for all of us. Many of us are feeling confused, lost, despondent, filled with rage and a profound sense of sadness. However, these times can also be filled with hope: hope for the healing of generational wounds, hope for personal and societal transformation fueled by love, and hope for our ability to participate in the building of God’s reign on Earth. If you’d like to join together with other parishioners to learn more about Faith and Racial Equity, please consider joining a 10-week small group. These small groups will provide a safe environment, supported by prayer and the educational materials of JustFaith Ministries, where you will be able to challenge yourself to learn more about the experience of racism in our country while growing in love, community, and discerning your particular mode of social action. If you’d like to learn more, or if you are ready to sign up, please email Laura Hancock right away (hancockl@archmil.org). We are hoping to get these groups up and running as soon as possible… the need to be engaged is now!

Eat, Drink & Be Catholic @ Home Videos
Jun 24 – Jul 31 all-day

Eat, Drink and Be Catholic offers women and men of all ages a casual (and hopefully friendly!) opportunity to explore the Catholic faith. We seek to provide space for intellectual, relational and spiritual growth as well as real community building. Our hope is that at the end of each evening, individuals not only know more but are inspired and empowered to live in faith, hope and love.

While we have been unable to meet in person we have been meeting virtually. Recordings of each night can be found below. Click the lines in the upper right corner to select your video. They can also be found on our Family of Four Parishes YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1dTC8Mi4ngPSBp8iTMi5Y7pc9pFvAZBC.

Virtual Food Drive
Jul 7 – Aug 7 all-day

We know that our parishioners are incredibly dedicated to supporting the ongoing ministry of the Riverwest Food Pantry. Although the pandemic has required the cancellation of all food drives for RWFP (including the physical donation of the “Item of the Week” at our parish Masses), we would like to support the Community of Generosity with a Virtual Food Drive! It’s easy! Instead of purchasing your Item of the Week and bringing it with you to Mass, all you have to do is visit https://yougivegoods.com/rwfp-familyoffourparishes-fooddrive, click on your parish, and then SHOP! It really is that easy… and will have a lasting impact on supporting the needs of our neighbors! We have set our first goal at 500 pounds of food, per parish, for the first month of this food drive. Let’s see what we can do, friends! If you have any questions, please contact Laura Hancock at hancockl@archmil.org. Thank you for your generous giving!!

Taizé Prayer
Jul 9 – Aug 9 all-day

Taizé Prayer is meditative in nature, using music, readings and silent reflection to focus our prayer. It is an ecumenical form of prayer modeled after the Taizé community in France. Christians of all traditions share in this ecumenical prayer whose purpose is to foster reconciliation and peace among all peoples.

Please contact Mary Robertson at robertsonm@archmil.org or 271-6577 if you have any questions.

Good News Adventure
Jul 27 @ 9:00 am – Jul 31 @ 12:00 pm

Are you ready for an Adventure? Good News Adventure is our four-parish family’s free, fun, faith-filled annual summer camp for kids of all ages. GNA is coming to YOU this summer! Instead of gathering as a large group at camp, we are spreading the Good News through daily videos, awesome music, crazy fun games, and surprising adventures enjoyed in the comfort and safety of your own home or backyard!!! We’ll even have live-streaming events and Zoom discussions each day to learn the “Good News of the Day” and explore how Jesus’ power can help us every day of our lives.

Kids who are completing K3 through Grade 4 are invited to participate, while youth in grades 5 and up are encouraged to join in the fun as volunteers.

For more information, to sign up, or to donate, please visit ssppmilw.org/gna2020.  We look forward to having an awesome week of Good News Adventure: Rocky Railway @ Home! We think it is exactly what your family needs to “stay on track” this summer!!
