The Family Justice Brigade provides opportunities to serve the community, to learn about social justice, and to work towards a more peaceful and just city. Our past events have been delivering Thanksgiving Baskets to families, making sandwiches for the Open Door Cafe, and assembling blessing bags for the homeless.
Our next service project will be Saturday, May 11 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. Our Family of Four Parishes Lenten almsgiving project has been raising funds to build a new home for a deserving family through the good work of Habitat for Humanity. All families are welcome meet at at 9:30 am at Three Holy Women – Holy Rosary Hall (2011 N. Oakland Ave) to make bag lunches for volunteers who will be working that day to frame the new house. We will also be decorating and writing inspiring messages on ten wood stud beams that will be used in the frame of the new house.
At 11:00 am, families will deliver the bag lunches and studs to the build site (1916 N. 30th St), eat lunch, and then go on a 20 minute tour of the Habitat for Humanity build sites.
All ages are welcome for this event. This is a great opportunity for families to support Habitat for Humanity in a real and tangible way.
