Christian Women Society

Mission Statement

The Christian Women Society provides opportunities for women to develop deeper relationships with God and our patroness, the Blessed Virgin Mary, through prayer, service, and friendship. All women of Three Holy Women, Our Lady of Divine Providence, Old Saint Mary, and Saints Peter and Paul parishes are welcome.

If you are interested in joining or learning more about the society, please contact Mary Hessel at or 414-559-5966.

About the Christian Women Society

Monthly meetings are held September through May, 8:30 am to 10:00 am in Holy Rosary Hall, with Mass celebrated together at 10:30 am. Each member receives the Our Lady of Grace Medallion to be worn at Mass and other appropriate occasions.

Prayer Opportunities:

May Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary
A Mass in May. Members buy the rosebud beads used for May crowning to honor women who have influenced their lives. A rosary is prayed for their intentions.

Mass Each Second Wednesday of the Month
The Mass takes place at St. Hedwig Church at 5:30 pm. The Mass intention is for healing of our members in body and spirit.

Day of Prayer and Reflection
Held on a Saturday in Autumn. This day is a time for prayer, reflection, learning, and healing. A spiritual director leads the day.

Other Opportunities for Women
Members are notified of opportunities to participate in events such as presentations on relevant topics, including those sponsored by other parishes and the Archdiocese.

Cookie Baking
Members gather to bake, ice, and package over 10,000 cookies to sell at Christmas time. Proceeds are donated to support needs of the parish and local charities.

St. Joseph Table
A traditional celebration of the feast of St. Joseph in which a special table is filled with meatless dishes, sweets, and other foods made by the Christian Women. After the table is blessed the items are sold. Proceeds go to the human concerns committee and other organizations that serve the poor.

Rosaries for First Communicants
A rosary is presented to each new communicant with best wishes from the Christian Women.

Special Needs
The Christian Women respond to requests from the Parish Community as they arise. Examples include the Agape meal on Holy Thursday, meals for Meta House, receptions for the Crop Walk and SET Ministry, and many more.

Christian Women Book Club
The book club meets on the second Wednesday of each month at a local restaurant to share dinner and a lively discussion of the book.

Christmas Party
An annual Christmas party is held in December.

Members who are ill or have special needs receive prayers and a card with good wishes.

Field Trips
Field trips are arranged based on member interest, but may include trips such as a holiday outing to Chicago, Holy Hill, St. Josaphat Basilica, a tour of local churches, Our Lady of Good Help shrine, and more!
